    I went onto FSUS' website and went to the 2nd grade classes. On the teachers class websites there was all kinds of information. The teacher has unit spelling vocabulary, field trips, their daily schedule, newsletters, and their curriculum. I viewed another teacher's 2nd grade website and she also included homework help as well as additional resource links to help parents at home. FSUS 2nd Grade


     I can envision myself using technology to accomplish my professional responsibilities more effectively and efficiently. Using technology tools to help me plan my lessons could get my work done much more effectively. It will help me keep organized and it will make it easier for me to update my lessons for my future years of teaching. Diigo is very important in this sense because I can bookmark and take notes on all the websites I am using in my lesson plans and helps with collaboration. 
     Last week, I visited FSU's Technology Sandbox. It was filled with all sorts of technology that can be extremely useful in the classroom. One of the technologies available was a smart board. The smart board allows students ti physically touch and move things around on the screen that can help their learning. It has lessons educational games that you can download that can make learning fun and interactive. This really can keep students engaged in what you are teaching since they get to be involved. Also, they have a 3-D printer at the Technology Sandbox. I found this piece of technology to be very interesting because students could create something that applies to your lesson and then you could print out their creation at school and give it to them the next day. It could keep your students very excited to learn!

     I use technology very often and am usually very successful. I've been using technology since I was a child and it is now part of my everyday life. Being a college student I use my computer frequently to complete and upload assignments. Also, I use my phone daily to connect with my friends and coworkers. Technology so far has been very helpful in my daily life.      Being in this class, I hope to learn more about how to operate computers as well as how to use some of the applications available to me. Hopefully by the end of this course, I will be able to quickly and efficiently work my way around technology.  I also hope to be able to have the skills to help others with their technology problems if needed.

Adaptive Technology for Diverse Learners

What did you learn through your individual efforts? I learned about the opportunities and challenges that special needs students face. There are many challenges, like having to train the staff properly in order to help the student use new technology that is going to help them. Some very effective solutions to the challenges they face are National Council for Learning and TechMatrix. Also, an educators role is to make sure that all the students are receiving the same opportunities regardless of their disabilities. What did you learn today through creating/viewing the group presentations? I learned about all of the different types of technologies that diverse students can use while in the classroom.
